PENINSULA PARK CHILDREN'S MEMORIAL GAZEBO
These are pictures of the "Remember
Our Children" (R.O.C.) Memorial Gazebo, which opened June 29th, 2008 and was
dedicated to all our children who have passed away. There are many tragic
accidents in our area, some on the water, some on the roads, and many other
types of tragic deaths of our children. This Memorial Gazebo is a way to
remember them in a beautiful spot overlooking Lake Muskoka. It's at the
northern end of Peninsula Park, down at Gravenhurst Wharf. It's a quiet
"out of the way" place, perfect for contemplation and peaceful remembrance.
There are 75 plaques there now, with more to come. If any of our members
feel that this is a way for them to help deal with their loss of a child,
whatever age, you can contact Evelyn Matson - 687-0961. The plaques are
$15.00 (and/or a donation to be used for future maintenance of the gazebo) and
it takes about 2 weeks to get them up. You may just want to go there to see what
a beautiful place and a beautiful building this is, or you may have someone you
know, who you think may want to have more information. In the past year,
many people have found some comfort when a plaque has been placed in memory.
Thank you again to all the people who have made this project come to fruition.
